Ahead of their Week 1 matchup, the Minnesota Vikings must release their first official depth chart of the 2022 regular season. While that official chart hasn’t come out yet, the Vikings did update their unofficial depth chart to include some of their most recent roster moves. Here’s some of the most notable takeaways from this new depth chart.

Jalen Reagor as Punt Returner

No major surprises here as the main reason the Minnesota Vikings traded for Jalen Reagor was to solve their punt returning woes. Throughout preseason, neither Ihmir Smith-Marsette or Jalen Nailor emerged as a clear favorite to win the job. With Reagor’s experience at the position, he serves as a clear improvement.

Jonathan Bullard Replaces Armon Watts

One of the most surprising moves of cutdown week that the Vikings made was the waiving of Armon Watts. He was listed as a starter for the entirety of the preseason, Minnesota suddenly let him go. Now the Vikings updated depth chart, the replacement for Watts is in fact Jonathan Bullard.

Bullard was one of the preseason stars on the defense alongside T.Y. McGill, so it makes sense that he would be the starter without Watts. Also worth noting is that new trade acquisition Ross Blacklock is listed as his backup on the new chart.

Andrew Booth Takes a Tumble

Andrew Booth was listed on the second team for much of the preseason at cornerback, but after a poor preseason opener and an injury in the finale, his status was up in the air. With the season opener looming, Booth has taken a tumble down the depth chart. We’ll see if things change, but as of now, he is listed on the third team with Kris Boyd and behind both Akayleb Evans and Chandon Sullivan.
