Justin Jefferson Sets Career High for Receptions

Once again, Justin Jefferson showed fans just how special he is throughout the Minnesota Vikings win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The star third-year receiver was all over the field as Jefferson set a career high for receptions by catching 12 passes from Kirk Cousins on the day.
10 of those receptions came in the first half as he helped Cousins set the Vikings franchise record for most consecutive completions by starting the day 17-for-17. He broke the record that was previously held by Tommy Kramer, who completed his first 16 passes against the Green Bay Packers on November 11th, 1979.
The 12 receptions for Jefferson surpassed his 11 that he recorded in Week 13 of the 2021 season against the Detroit Lions. This time around, a career high came alongside team success whereas last year the Vikings lost that Lions game, 29-27. It’s the third time that Jefferson has recorded 10+ receptions and the second time in back-to-back weeks.
In addition to his 12 catches, Jefferson recorded 154 receiving yards and converted a two-point conversion on Minnesota’s final touchdown drive. It’s the sixth time that Jefferson has recorded 150+ receiving yards in his career.
On the season, Jefferson now has a ridiculous 40 receptions, 547 receiving yards, and 3 total TDs through Week 5.

This upcoming weekend, Jefferson could see another massive number in his box score. The Vikings travel down to Miami to take on the Dolphins. Heading into Week 5, Miami had allowed the second-most receiving yards in the NFL and tied for the fifth-most passing touchdowns allowed.
This week against the New York Jets, Miami lost 40-17, falling to 3-2 on the season. Much of New York’s production came on the ground, but Zach Wilson also completed 14-of-21 passes for 210 yards on the day. If the past couple weeks are any indication, Jefferson should be in store for another huge game next Sunday.
