Every year, NFL players cast their votes to decide which of their peers are among the best in the league. With these votes, the league creates a top-100 list. The Vikings have already seen Kirk Cousins find a place on this list as he was placed at No. 99. Dalvin Cook is the second Vikings to land in this ranking, being placed at No. 31. He is placed between Ravens TE Mark Andrews at No. 32 and Chargers EDGE Joey Bosa at No. 30.

Cook’s ranking comes following a 2021 season in which he played 13 games and rushed 249 times for 1159 yards and six touchdowns. The veteran RB tacked on 34 receptions for 224 yards as well. Cook had his lowest yards from scrimmage total since 2018, and much of that had to do with various injuries that he suffered during the year.

This is the third time that Cook has been named to the NFL’s Top-100, but due to his decrease in production, he has fallen 11 spots from his 2021 ranking of 20th. That ranking came after the best season of his career in 2020 when he rushed for 1559 yards and 16 touchdowns. Prior to that, he ranked 21st ahead of the 2020 season after going unranked from 2017-19.

He may have fallen out of the 20s this year, but his NFL peers clearly hold Cook in high regard. Here are a few of the league’s RBs that he ranks ahead of going into the 2022 season:

  • No. 98: David Montgomery
  • No. 80: James Conner
  • No. 73: Cordarrelle Patterson
  • No. 51: Alvin Kamara
  • No 46: Austin Ekeler
  • No. 38: Joe Mixon
  • No. 33: Nick Chubb

Cook enters the 2022 season with some uncertainty regarding his future as there is an opt-out clause in his contract at the end of the year. That said, this looks to be another very productive season for the RB in Kevin O’Connell’s offensive scheme.
