Andrew Booth Jr. Absent from Practice on Thursday

It’s been a bit of a rough start to the 2022 season if you’re one of the Vikings rookies. Lewis Cine missed the regular season opener, and Ed Ingram had struggles against the superb Packers defensive linemen. While Cine seems poised to return for Week 2, there’s a chance that different rookie won’t play on Monday night in Philadelphia. Andrew Booth Jr. was absent from practice on Thursday after he left Week 1’s win with a quad injury. He played just two snaps, all coming on special teams.

O’Connell said Booth was “around the clock” in terms of working on his treatment. Luckily for the Vikings, O’Connell said that he expected everyone else to be present for practice. This suggests that Cine is progressing well from his injury, and Irv Smith did not see any setbacks after playing 19 snaps in the season opener.
Coming out of the 2022 Draft, injuries were the biggest concern with Booth. He has struggled through injuries essentially since his high school playing days, and he went into the draft recovering from a sports hernia. It shouldn’t be all that surprising that early in his NFL career these issues have continued, and it’s at least comforting that nothing too serious has occurred.
As the Vikings head into a Monday night matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, it’s essential that the defense performs at the top of its game to contain Jalen Hurts. In the season opener against the Detroit Lions, Philly racked up 38 points and over 200 rushing yards. The winner of Monday’s game jumps to 2-0, and they should see their playoff chances leap towards the top of the NFC as well.
