Bleacher Report Joins The Andrew Booth Jr. Hype

Since being chosen 42nd overall by the Vikings, Andrew Booth Jr. has been receiving a lot of praise. He has been described as one of the steals of the draft, and many insist he can develop into a CB1 in the NFL. A recent piece on Bleacher Report joins the fun by praising the young Vikings corner.

In BR‘s estimation, Booth is Minnesota’s “best value selection:”

The B/R Scouting Department graded him as a Year 1 starter with the potential to get selected on Day 1, but nine second-round picks were made before the Clemson product heard his name called.

With Patrick Peterson fading into the twilight of his career and Cameron Dantzler having an up-and-down sophomore season last year, the Vikings desperately needed to address this position after failing to land a marquee free agent.

Booth more than adequately fills the void and should slot in as a starter early in his career.

Indeed, Booth does represent good value and he does address a major need. For these reasons, he certainly does look like a great pick.

The key, of course, will rest in his health. Throughout college, Booth battled injuries, limiting his effectiveness. It’s crucial he puts this behind him as he transitions to the NFL. Of course, injuries often can’t be controlled, so it’s not fair to say he has complete control over his injury fate. Rather, he needs to ensure he puts in the necessary work in the offseason and during the year to ensure he’s taking care of his body. From there, it’s a fingers-crossed, hope-for-the-best situation.

If successful, the Bleacher Report blurb on the Vikings’ newest corner may be prescient. Snagging a CB1 in the middle of RD2 would be incredible value. Hopefully, Booth reaches his full potential with Minnesota.
