Q: JC Tretter says the Vikings didn’t return his calls. The Vikings say they never heard from Tretter. Who do you believe?
A: While this one is truly a he-said-he-said, we believe Tretter, in his estimation, reached out to the Vikings, but they conveniently ignored his request.
Tretter was oft-injured in 2021, and Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah “worked in the building” with Tretter for the Browns. Adofo-Mensah should know more than most about the Tretter experience.
It’s unclear if Tretter reached out to the wrong person or what went on. Yet, if the Vikings wanted his services, they had five months to do the homework. Undoubtedly, his free agency wasn’t a mystery to the Vikings, who have encountered suspect center performance for a long time.
We’ll speculate that Minnesota simply wasn’t interested.
Q: What is your score prediction for Vikings-Packers in Week 1?
A: Give us a positive start to the Kevin O’Connell era with a 30-24 win over the Packers.
Green Bay will be adjusting to life without Davante Adams, and Minnesota will be acclimating to the regular season version of its own coach, in general.
Still, homefield advantage wins out, and the Vikings squeak by with a win.
Q: Will Chandon Sullivan make the 53-man roster? There seem to be mixed opinions about his summer performance.
A: Sullivan will make the 53-man roster.
He’s been mentioned as a dark-horse roster cut, but who would play the slot cornerback role without him? A rookie? We think not.
Sullivan may not be a Pro Bowler, but he’s a reasonable slot cornerback to play while Akayleb Evans and Andrew Booth develop in 2021.
