Q: With Kyle Sloter getting cut by the Jaguars, is it back to the USFL? End of the road in the NFL?

A: Sloter will probably land on the practice squad with an NFL team.

We already know he can perform well in the USFL, so Sloter can always use that as his fallback. Regardless, getting cut from the Jaguars isn’t a good look. Because if not Jacksonville as a landing spot — where?

Regrettably, Sloter’s release is yet another setback for a player who usually looks fabulous in the preseason.

Q: Any chance wide receiver Trishton Jackson makes the regular season roster?

A: No.

Myron Mitchell is having a better training camp — and even he probably won’t make the 53-man roster. The Vikings simply have too many WRs that could make the team, and they won’t keep more than seven. For Trishton to sneak through the roster door, someone like Ihmir Smith-Marsette would likely have to get cut.

Jackson may end up on the practice squad, though.

Q: Is Mike Zimmer going to write for that website with Rick Spielman or join the Cincinnati Bengals coaching staff?

A: Zimmer is an analyst for The 33rd Team, a think tank and football-analysis site. The media outlet made the news official on Tuesday.

Earlier this week, Zimmer showed up at Bengals training camp, causing some to speculate a possible addition to Cincinnati’s staff. Well, the timing of the tweet from The 33rd Team might put a slight damper on that.

We expect Zimmer to be a defensive coordinator in 2023 and do the analysis bit for Mike Tannebaum’s website in the meantime.
