Justin Jefferson is Incredible; Do The Vikings Have Other Fantasy Starters?

Admittedly, I’m far from an expert on fantasy football. Like many of you, it’s a pastime I enjoy with my friends. When it comes to what Vikings fans should do with their fantasy teams, I can’t offer any ironclad insight.

Fantasy football is already underway since the NFL’s first game has been played. People who started Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, and/or Cooper Kupp are probably feeling pretty good. Gabriel Davis, moreover, may end up as a rock-solid option.

Back to Minnesota. What I’ll say is that the Vikings have some players who may be fantasy stars.

In all likelihood, you had to spend either a first or second-round pick to get Justin Jefferson and/or Dalvin Cook. Since both are healthy, I can’t imagine too many fantasy footballers are leaving either on the bench in Week 1. Both have the potential to put up some great stats on the weekend, especially in a PPR league.

Adam Thielen is another name to consider. He came up in an earlier piece due to his proclivity for scoring TDs. If I had him on my team, I’d be very tempted to have him as my WR2 or WR3.

I know he’s getting older and the Packers defense is very good. I also know that Thielen has had some recent success against Green Bay. His game logs on PFR indicate that he had 8 catches, 82 yards, and a TD in last season’s first GB game; he missed the second game.

After the top three – Jefferson, Thielen, and Cook – things become a lot more uncertain. Irv Smith Jr. looks like he is fully healthy since he hasn’t been on the injury report. K.J. Osborn may find some room since there will be so much focus on the other offensive players. Maybe Alexander Mattison can get a touchdown at the goal line, but I’d lean toward a RB who will get more carries.

Kirk Cousins will be playing his first game with Kevin O’Connell as head coach. He’ll benefit from playing at home, making life a touch easier. Even still, I’d be nervous about having him as my QB1 since the Packers are likely to generate some pressure.

Greg Joseph has had a great offseason, so he’s worth considering.

The Vikings have a few players who look like they can be strong options in fantasy. That being said, it’s all an educated guess. Despite my best efforts, I can’t predict the future. Individual people will need to make their own choices for their own fantasy leagues.

Best of luck this week and beyond.
