Josh Frey’s Full 2022 NFL Standings Predictions Plus Playoff Picks

After so much build-up and anticipation, the time has finally come. The NFL regular season begins tonight. In preparation, we’ve been going over each NFL division over the past week and predicting how each of team will perform during the 2022 season. Below is a recap of the full NFL standings predictions for each division as well as some final playoff predictions for this year.

AFC East

1. Buffalo Bills (13-4)*
2. Miami Dolphins (7-10)
3. New England Patriots (7-10)
4. New York Jets (5-12)

The Buffalo Bills end up on top in this division once again as Miami and New England struggle to keep up. The health of Tre’Davious White is a concern, but either way, the Bills should very easily end up with top-10 units on both offense and defense this year. Keep an eye on the Jets as a frisky team once Zach Wilson comes back later this season.

NFC East

1. Philadelphia Eagles (11-6)*
2. Dallas Cowboys (8-9)
3. Washington Commanders (7-10)
4. New York Giants (6-11)

The Philadelphia Eagles spent this offseason rebuilding their defense, and now, they have one of the most fearsome groups in the league. A strong secondary including James Bradberry, CJ Gardner-Johnson, and Darius Slay paired with Fletcher Cox and Jordan Davis on the front should carry this team to the NFC East title.

AFC North

1. Cincinnati Bengals (12-5)*
2. Baltimore Ravens (11-6)*
3. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-8)
4. Cleveland Browns (4-13)

The Bengals don’t suffer a Super Bowl hangover this year, but Baltimore will also take a step up to snatch a wild card spot. Both teams have improved their offensive lines, and strong seasons from both Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson will be crucial for these teams to find success in 2022.

NFC North

1. Green Bay Packers (12-5)*
2. Minnesota Vikings (11-6)*
3. Detroit Lions (6-11)
4. Chicago Bears (4-13)

The Green Bay Packers might take a step back offensively in 2022, but their defense looks like one of the best groups in the NFL. Additionally, the Vikings will find their way back to the playoffs with a rejuvenated team coached by Kevin O’Connell. Kirk Cousins getting some MVP juice won’t hurt, either.

AFC South

1. Indianapolis Colts (10-7)*
2. Jacksonville Jaguars (8-9)
3. Tennessee Titans (8-9)
4. Houston Texans (5-12)

The AFC South could very well be the worst division in the NFL this year, but they will all get a little closer to .500 by beating up on each other. While Indy writes the wrong of the last year by making the playoffs, the big surprise from this group is the Jacksonville Jaguars proving to be a competitive team.

NFC South

1. New Orleans Saints (12-5)*
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11-6)*
3. Carolina Panthers (7-10)
4. Atlanta Falcons (3-14)

There are some question marks surrounding the Tampa Bay Buccaneers right now, and the New Orleans Saints went 5-2 with Jameis Winston as the starting QB in 2021. New Orleans has a much-improved receiving group this season, and they will run back a stout defensive group, including acquisitions Tyrann Mathieu and Marcus Maye.

AFC West

1. Kansas City Chiefs (12-5)*
2. Los Angeles Chargers (12-5)*
3. Denver Broncos (10-7)*
4. Las Vegas Raiders (7-10)

The AFC West is an absolute gauntlet in 2022, but a familiar face comes out on top. The Kansas City Chiefs lose Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins, but Travis Kelce is still the best tight end in the NFL. It seems to be going overlooked that they brought in JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marques Valdez-Scantling as well.

NFC West

1. Los Angeles Rams (11-6)*
2. San Francisco 49ers (11-6)*
3. Arizona Cardinals (8-9)
4. Seattle Seahawks (4-13)

The Super Bowl champs reign supreme in the NFC West once again. The division remains largely the same as 2021’s group, but the Arizona Cardinals take a step back considering the losses they suffered over the offseason. DeAndre Hopkins six-game suspension early in the season plays a huge role early in the year as well.
